Spring!

We've had cold weather and snow upon snow for so long, I didn't think that we could even think spring yet, but walking home yesterday, I saw some plants popping up in a neighbors yard, so thought I'd take a look at my own garden to see if anything is coming up. You may remember that the backyard garden was beautiful when we looked at it in August, and still pretty great when I moved the first of October, but other than Hosta, I really don't know what's out there. I did plant some tulip bulbs mom brought me in October in the front yard and hope they come up. I freely admit I don't know anything about plants, but shouldn't they be green? These are very definitely red.

These are close to where I planted the tulips, but whether they're mine or what was there before, I don't know. (coming up quite close to the "stump" in the front yard)
Anyone have any idea? Does rhubarb look like this? (this is over near where the basil was)

I'm going to guess tiger or daylilies. (but secretly hoping for iris) Anyone else have a guess? (there is quite a bit of this against the garage, just to the right as you step out the garage door into the back yard).

So, if anyone has a green thumb (or maybe I need someone with a red thumb?) I'm hoping you'll come and visit me soon. I'll try to keep you updated as things progress in the yard.

How exciting! I don't see anything that looks like Iris here, but it wouldn't be the first time I failed to correctly identify emerging flora. The green shoots could be daffodils (wouldn't that be nice?) or something similar. It is surprising to me how many plants are red when they are at this stage- peonies, for example. Keep us posted!

OK... I am getting my green thumb out, The red things, TULIPS! I know it threw me for a loop last year too! They start out red and turn green after the sun hits them a bit. Check out my blog from March last year titled "Hmmmm..."

The second one, I am not as positive... however looking at the leftover leaves maybe you could get an iris out of it. They have a bulby bulb that grows up near the surface and usually breaks through. I will look at mine tomorrow. Daylilies are usually more stringy.

Finally, the third photo is daffodils baby!

My tulips, and daffodils, and irises are also out of the ground too. Isn't it fun to see how God gives us strength even when the snow comes AGAIN! :o) Hugs, Reese
