RAPture or rapTURE'

Due to a headache, I went to bed early on Friday, and slept a bit fitfully after 9 hours. Anyway, about 4:30 Saturday morning, I heard something that in my groggy state seemed like something slamming into my front yard. Really brief, but pretty loud. I got up and looked out my window, saw nothing, looked at the clock and truthfully this was my thought.

"in a twinkling of an eye, must be the rapture. Wait, I'm here. Do I have any doubts about my salvation? no. positively not. That must mean that I am part of the remnant left here to show others the way. NOOO! I don't want that responsiblity. Lord, I can't handle that. Wait, what time is it, 4 something or other. Did I dream that? Could be, I've slept a long time and my brain doesn't know what to do. Well, I have a tough day ahead of me if it was the rapture, I'll go back to sleep."

And I did. I didn't think of it again until last night when I was watching the news. It turns out that there was an explosion and fire at a house just a couple of blocks from me. Truly horrific damage to house, and someone died. They so far don't know what caused it, but for that 23-year-old it was his last moment. He was gone in the twinkling of an eye. And I realized that I had actually heard something that morning. And then I remembered my reaction. I obviously don't have a great understanding of end times, but I was happy to realize that I was very secure in my relationship with God, and not so happy to realize my fear of the responsibility of evangelism.

I don't have a point, just thought I'd share. If you want more of the story, including some video of the devastated house, there's some here.

How was your weekend?

How awful for this poor kid. Have they determined a cause yet?
How like your mother you are- sleep is the default mode to any situation!
(By the way, your Uncle Keith would be proud of the Isaac Air Freight allusion.)

I'm awfully proud of YOU for getting the Isaac Air Freight reference. I was sure Nathan would be the only one.
Last night on the news they said that it was a 26-year old and that he was probably dead before the fire, but that they woudln't know a cause of death for a couple of weeks. I had heard on Sunday that they thought it might be a gas leak, but they didn't say anything more about it yesterday.

Reese,
I have to admit that was my first thought too, although nothing on the news has said anything about it. a bit of an update here http://www.kttc.com/News/index.php?ID=22968 if you're interested.
